All trigonometric functions are available in R: the sine, cosine, and tangent functions and their inverse functions. You can find them on the Help page you reach by typing?Trig. Re: inverse tangent To get the inverse Tangent ( you should be saying ArcTangent ) you will need to use the 'Atn' function. But I'm still not seeing what you're doing in the first post. Ok, Math.PI of VB 2005 is 3.8979 However, I tried to define a variable called dblPI as simply 3.1415926 The answer I got was not much difference when for example I tried Sin360 in degree mode.

The handbook for beginning programmers with examples in javascript. I'm working on a Pythagorean Theorem program that calculates the sides and angles of a right triangle. I have the side measurements and all that down, but I can't find the Visual Basic function that will allow me to calculate the angles from the side measurements. I've tried asin and sinh, but both give me the wrong measure.

Use the functions
Math.Asin() , Math.Acos() , and Math.Atan() . These are the inverse trigonometric functions that you can use to find the angles you're after. Sinh is a hyperbolic function and won't be any use for this.
